Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne said Thursday that he backed the proposal of Premier Matteo Renzi's government to increase disposal incomes by making it possible to advance workers part of their severance pay, or TFR. "We have to support the government in what it's doing, even if it costs Fiat," Marchionne said at the Paris Motor Show when asked about the idea. "We've got to stop saying No". All of Italy's three big trade union confederations have criticised the proposal. "The TFR advance would not be a bonus or a raise, but money that belongs to the workers," said Susanna Camusso, the leader of the biggest confederation, the leftwing CGIL.
