Giorgio Napolitano on Tuesday told the Italian judiciary's self
governing body, the Supreme Council of Magistrates (CSM), to
make up for lost time after long delays in the election of its
new makeup in parliament. "Straight down to work," Napolitano
told the CSM. "The time it took to elect the new members of the
CSM must be recovered quickly". He also expressed "great
pleasure" at the election of Giovanni Legnini as the CSM's vice
president. The vice president is effectively the chief of the
CSM as the president is a figurehead role that goes to the
Italian head of State, currently Napolitano himself.
