A row over scrapping Article
18 of the Workers Stature is "paradoxical" because "only a few
thousand workers are impacted by it," Economy Minister Pier
Carlo Padoan said Tuesday.
Article 18 states that judges can give unfairly sacked
workers their jobs back.
Premier Matteo Renzi's plans to scrap it have caused a rift
in his ruling Democratic Party (PD) while the biggest trade
union, CGIL, is threatening a general strike.
