The Islamic State (ISIS) poses an "international and European" security threat and "we (in Italy) feel particularly exposed," Deputy Interior Minister Filippo Bubbico said Friday.
"Being prudent, however, does not mean rasing alarms, but rather creating the procedures for security to be guaranteed," Bubbico told Sky TV.
Bubbico said the situation was "complicated" after the execution of US reporter James Foley.
"But we have the tools to monitor it," he said.
Sunni extremists ISIS have threatened Rome in the past.
