Forza Italia (FI) is the "only
credible opposition" to an incapable government led by Premier
Matteo Renzi's Democratic Party (PD), ex-premier and FI leader
Silvio Berlusconi said Friday.
In a letter to FI Senators, Berlusconi said he would work
with them to "fight and defend our freedom," adding that he was
not giving up his own battle to return to full political life.
"Our movement has become the only credible opposition to a
government that has shown itself unable to cut spending, reduce
taxes, to achieve real structural reforms in the economy," wrote
Berlusconi.
The 77-year-old billionaire was ejected from the Senate last
November and banned from office for six years following his
definitive conviction in a tax fraud case.
