Voting on the government's
Constitutional reform bill will be done by August 8, when
parliament's summer recess begins, Deputy Senate Speaker
Maurizio Gasparri, who is from Silvio Berlusconi's opposition
center-right Forza Italia (FI) party, said Thursday after a
meeting of Senate whips. Voting was suspended earlier on
Thursday because of obstructionism from opponents of the bill.
Debate will be sped up by setting time limits on lawmakers'
speeches, Gasparri said.
