A Sicilian wedding planner will organise the gala dinners of Donald and Melania Trump at the May 26-27 Group of Seven (G7) summit in the ancient Sicilian city of Taormina, sources said Wednesday.
Luca Melilli, 39, has been named among the world's top 50 wedding planners by Brides Magazine.
He has organised a raft of major events for his Panta Rhei agency over the last 10 years, including one by Bill Gates in the Valley of the Temples and gala dinners for the Taormina Film Festival, featuring the world's top film stars.
Melilli said he could "hardly believe my eyes" when he got the request for the Trump gig from a London agency a few weeks ago.
"When I received the email I read it over a few times, because it almost didn't seem real to me.
Strict secrecy surrounds how the dinners will be organised. "It's still too early to define the details but we have already had certain indications to follow and ideas to put into action.
"The evenings will be two. In the first one we are thinking of a Sicilian theme which makes our guests fell the warmth of our land. "We may choose a mise-en-scene that highlights our folklore, Mediterranean colours, and the flowers and scents typical of Sicily, or we could go more classical, sober and elegant, evoking motifs from The Leopard (the classic novel by Giuseppe Tommasi de Lampedusa).
"The second evening will be a full-blown gala. We'll always use fresh flowers".
