Culture lovers are being
offered an Art Safari across Italy that will feature the Forum,
the Villa Borghese gardens and tourist-loved sites in Florence,
Milan and Naples rather than lions and hippos, organisers said
Friday.
The project is the result of an idea by the Ara Macao
association and includes a series of books, tours guided by art
experts and a free app with information on the website
www.safaridarte.it
"Art Safari was born out of a need to stimulate the wish for
exploration of the past and the conviction that culture is an
enrichment for everyone," said the association's president,
Raffaella Tiribocchi.
On offer are 10 Play&Learn travel book titles in A5 format
in Italian and English for tours in Rome, Florence and Milan
including unconventional itineraries for young and old, tourists
and citizens.
Each game tour can be completed in some two hours walking
around the city in search of 12 clues that are monuments and
works of art, guided by a map with the relevant coordinates.
The book includes historical and artistic texts relative to
the artworks and a final quiz.
Also offered is a Play&Learn Tour with an Activity
Leader who is an art history expert speaking different languages
who guides a sort of treasure hunt while providing information
and curiosities.
The Art Safari app is in English and Italian with free and
paying routes in Lazio, Tuscany, Calabria and Campania.
