Uruguayan Foreign Minister Rodolfo
Nin Novoa played up his country's profile as a 'natural country'
where quality and renewable energy are a central part of food
and agriculture policies during a recent visit to Expo.
"It is for this reason that we are at Expo, to showcase our
living conditions, the alternative sources of energy, our meat,"
Nin Novoa said during a visit to the Uruguay pavilion on
Saturday.
"We produce food not just for our population, equivalent to
3.5 million people, but for 30 million people, and we can take
that figure to 50 million," the minister said, recalling the
strength and potential of the South American state's food and
agriculture industry.
Nin Novoa also said Uruguay did not fall far short of the
future retail scenarios presented in Expo's Future Food District
"due to the technology used in our food production".
