(ANSA) Cernobbio, October 17 - Italy's farmers' union
called Friday for a ban on use of 'counterfeit' foreign
ingredients in pizza production including Brazilian tomatoes and
German 'Zottarella' cheese.
The Coldiretti union denounced the use of such products as
"Pompeian" oil from the United States at an international Forum
on agriculture and food organised at the town of Cernobbio as
part of a campaign to have the "art of the Neapolitan pizza"
inscribed on the UNESCO world heritage list.
"The intention is to guarantee pizze made with genuine
products coming exclusively from Italian agriculture and to
fight international agropiracy," Coldiretti said in a statement.
