The 88th edition of menswear trade fair Pitti Uomo has awarded a prize to Marche-based tailors Lardini during a ceremony at Palazzo Vecchio.
Andrea Lardini, one of four siblings at the helm of the company based in the town of Filottrano near Ancona, has just been awarded an honorary engineering degree and will receive the prize in Palazzo Vecchio's Salone dei Cinquecento on the opening day of Pitti Uomo.
The trade fair runs through Friday at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence.
''The brand will receive the award as a reference point for the best in Italian fashion, an example of entrepreneurial determination and passion for work, as well as an established presence at the editions of Pitti,'' the company said in a statement.
Lardini makes jackets and coats with its own label and produces menswear for other major Italian fashion houses.
The company in 2014 recorded a turnover of 60 million euros.
It produces 1,700 items of clothing a day, directly employing 400 people while another 700 work for satellite businesses.
Lardini has announced it is expanding its production facility, adding 9,000 square meters to its current 11,000.
