A total of 9.144 million
viewers, or 47.3% of the overall audience share, watched the
second night of Italy's popular Sanremo song festival on State
broadcaster RAI's flagship Rai1 channel, according to data
released Thursday on the previous night.
Viewership was in line with last year, when 9.6 million
watched the second night of the fest directed for the second
consecutive year by singer and song-writer Claudio Baglioni.
An average of 10.086 million viewers watched the first night
Tuesday.
The second night of the musical extravaganza on Wednesday saw
the performance of Italian iconic singer Fiorella Mannoia, who
debuted a new song called 'Il peso del coraggio' (The weight of
courage) and Marco Mengoni, who won the festival in 2013 and
sang a duet with Baglioni.
Among singers in competition, Loredana Berte', Daniele
Silvestri and the trio of tenors Volo were among the most
applauded at Sanremo's Ariston theater.
