Culture and Tourism Minister
Dario Franceschini was among the guests who took part in an Rome
event organised by ANSA at which the agency's new ANSA Viaggiart
(art travels) portal was presented.
"International tourism is gearing for wild growth and it is
fundamentally important to tackle the infrastructure challenge
to intercept this," Franceschini told the event at Rome's
Istituto Centrale per la Grafica (Central Institute for
Graphics).
He said that high-speed train connections, which currently
stop in Salerno in the south, should go as far as the Sicilian
capital Palermo.
Franceschini also thanked ANSA for "initiatives like
Viaggiart".
"We need to combine new technologies with our skills and our
need to manage tourism growth," he added.
