Italian screen icon Gina
Lollobrigida, 90, revealed during an interview with Italian
journalist Bruno Vespa late Wednesday that she was sexually
abused twice during her career.
Lollobrigida made the revelations after Vespa asked her what
she thought about the recent wave of sexual harassment
allegations against Harvey Weinstein.
"I think they should have reported it a long time ago but
they didn't have the courage," she said, then unexpectedly
adding, "but I didn't have the courage either".
"When harassment isn't harassment but something more, you
can't eliminate it, it stays inside and conditions your
personality; your actions are always subject to this memory,"
she said.
She referred to "two people, one foreign and one Italian",
the first episode at age 19 and the second after she was married
and had begun to work in film.
