Italian energy giant ENEL has become a stakeholder in the foundation for Rome's MAXXI museum of 21st-century art, MAXXI President Giovanna Melandri said Tuesday. The move means ENEL have become the first private investor to join the foundation. "ENEL has entered the MAXXI foundation as a founder member," said Melandri, who was Italy's culture minister from 1998 to 2001 and sports minister from 2006 to 2008. "The relationship between the private and public sector is our pole star," she said.

Italian singer-songwriter Elisa and celebrity chef Carlo Cracco are to star at the annual fundraising dinner for Rome's national museum of 21st century art and architecture MAXXI on November 9, president of the MAXXI Foundation Giovanna Melandri said Tuesday. "With Elisa and Cracco we hope to raise even more money for MAXXI...to enable as many people as possible to access culture, because culture is not a luxury but a necessity," the former culture minister said. The futuristic museum designed by Anglo-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid is located in the Flaminio district of Rome.
