North Korea on Monday signed
the Milan Charter at the Milan Expo world's fair, pledging to
"commit itself to apply and translate into concrete reality the
principles contained therein," the North Korean special
ambassador, Kim Chun Guk, said.
The announcement was made on the occasion of North Korea's
national day, celebrated under the sign of ginseng, "considered
the king of green plants," the ambassador added.
Expo commissioner general Antonio Bruno Pasquino expressed
greetings to the North Koreans on behalf of the Italian
government saying that "the Milan Charter involves us all".
"It is time to re-define the options on the concept of
feeding the planet, starting with the use of water, of soil and
of dialogue between peoples".
