(ANSA) Rome, January 29 - Culture Minister Dario
Franceschini promulgated a decree Thursday laying out conditions
for tour guides to obtain permission to work in monuments and
archaeological sites, officials said.
Under the decree regional governments will provide licenses
for guides to operate after they have passed exams or proved
qualifications showing they have deep knowledge of Italy's
dazzling cultural heritage.
"It's not enough to have the most important patrimony in
the world if we are not capable of making it known in the best
of ways," said Culture Undersecretary Francesca Barracciu.
