More than 90 paintings, etchings and designs by the Venetian master Giambattista Tiepolo are being exhibited in a new show that opened Friday in Rome's Capitoline Museums.
'Tiepolo: The Colours of the Design' includes works by the 18th-century artist, whose successful atelier including his sons Giandomenico and Lorenzo.
Loans from collections in Trieste, Florence and Venice as well as works from across Europe were brought together for the exhibition, which closes January 18, including pieces seldom seen and little known to the general public.
Organizers say the exhibition will help enthusiasts to understand the artist's creative process, from sketches and designs to paintings and frescoes.
Divided into four sections, the show will cover a range of periods in the career of Tiepolo, who lived from 1696 to 1770, and includes such well-known works as The Temptation of St.
Anthony Abate, from Brera's Pinacoteca, the Flight into Egypt from Lisbon, and the Adoration of the Magi from Munich.
