A record-breaking 53 countries have pavilions under construction or approved to be built for Expo 2015, with Turkey and Ukraine as possible last-minute additions, participant director Stefano Gatti said on Friday.
The previous Expo, held in Shanghai in 2010, had 42 pavilions, with waiting times of up to seven hours at peak moments, Gatti said.
"We're sure that in Italy and Europe no one wants to do that," Gatti said.
Gatti said that planners hope to sell ten million tickets prior to the start of Expo 2015.
