Italian President Sergio Mattarella
called on political leaders to address the climate crisis in his
message for World Environment Day on Friday.
"The dramatic recent events that have touched the whole of
our planet demand that we acknowledge the essential link that
exists between the equilibrium of nature and our survival,"
Mattarella said.
"To emerge from the difficulties that we are faced with
today, we have extreme need for research and for long-sighted
policies that can imagine and render accessible a near future of
sustainable prosperity".
