A 63-year-old man killed by the father of the granddaughter he had allegedly abused at Rozzano near Milan may have been lured from his new home in Naples, sources said Wednesday.
The victim had been transferred to the southern Italian city after an investigation started into the alleged abuse of his granddaughter.
Sources said Wednesday he had been accused of abusing the girl for about two years, from 2016 to 2018, when he was a guest at his daughter's house, especially during holiday periods.
The girl was then aged between six and eight.
The man was killed by his former son-in-law, who has since divorced his wife, along with an accomplice on Monday.
The two men who carried out the hit turned themselves in on Tuesday.
Emanuele Spavone, 35, the father of the girl, said he shot Antonio Crisanti four times while Achille Mauriello, 27, rode the scooter they used to approach their target near a supermarket, sources said.
After they were charged with Crisanti's murder, they told the police that he had allegedly sexually abused his young granddaughter.
The Milan prosecutor's office said Crisanti was under investigation for abusing his granddaughter, Spavone's daughter.
The girl recently told prosecutors about the abuse, sources said.
    Rozzano lies south of Milan.
On Wednesday Spavone reportedly told reporters "when I saw him (Crisanti) I had a sudden and immediate blackout".
He said his vendetta was an "instinctive" act.
