(ANSAmed) - BEIRUT, FEBRUARY 12 - Italian photojournalist Gabriele Micalizzi, who was injured on Monday in eastern Syria while reporting on the front lines of the battle between ISIS and Kurdish forces, has lost vision in one eye, sources in contact with Micalizzi's family have said.
Micalizzi, who is currently being treated at a US hospital in Baghdad, was hit by an RPG rocket shard while he was following fighting on the eastern shore of the Euphrates River.
The photojournalist was rescued at the location where he was injured, together with a Brazilian colleague from CNN, Gabriel Chaim.
He arrived in Baghdad on Monday night, after several hours of uncertainty over his destination.(ANSAmed).
