Newspapers "spew propaganda",
Deputy Premier Luigi Di Maio said Tuesday, saying there had been
"no amnesty" in the government's 'fiscal peace' decree allowing
people with up to 100,000 euros of arrears to settle with
authorities provided they have filed income-tax returns.
"This will be the first year in Italy without a fiscal shield
for tax dodgers! The newspapers are no longer capable of
analysing reality and only spew propaganda: they are by now on
the brink of a nervous breakdown", the anti-establishment 5-Star
Movement (M5S) leader said on Facebook.
"We had said we would not do fiscal shields or amnesties and
so it has been. The government has used already existing
instruments such as the supplementary declaration or the
reimbursement under 1000 euros," Di Maio said.
