Protesters returned to a Puglia
construction site of the TransAdriatic Pipeline (TAP) Friday
with some 300 people blocking roads leading to the site at
Melendugno, a day after the Lazio regional administrative court
(TAR) rejected an appeal from the Puglia government against
uprooting olive trees to allow the work to go ahead. The TAP is
set to bring Caspian gas to Europe. Protesters are against the
removal of the trees even though they will be replanted in the
same place once the work is over.
