Italian finance police on
Wednesday seized the contents of two safety deposit boxes and a
bank account worth a total of 843,000 euros belonging to former
'paparazzi king' Fabrizio Corona in the city of Innsbruck, in
Austria. Police acted on orders from the Milan anti-mafia
investigators on suspicion of misappropriation and fraudulent
asset transfer.
Last week, a Milan court revoked the social services custody
of the notorious former "paparazzi king", ruling he must serve
another year in prison.
The ruling came just days after finance police seized a Milan
apartment worth approximately 2.5 million euros investigators
believe Corona bought through a dummy purchaser with financial
resources drained from his once high-flying photography agency.
In 2013, the photographer was sentenced to roughly five
years in prison for the fraudulent bankruptcy of his agency and
for blackmailing VIPs with compromising photographs.
A Milan court in October seized assets worth 1.7 million
euros from Corona, saying he is still a danger to society and
had failed to declare those assets.
Corona is currently in jail and under investigation for tax
fraud and violating property laws.
