An unknown bettor in the
southern Calabria region picked the six winning numbers on
Thursday to take the over 163.5 million euro jackpot in Italy's
popular SuperEnalotto game after 200 winless draws.
It was the second biggest jackpot ever after the 178
million euro pot won in October 2010.
The winning bet was placed at the Lo Bianco tobacconist's
in Vibo Valentia.
On Friday evening the bettor had not yet come forward to
claim the win.
The tobacconist's put up a banner hailing the win and had
to deal with a surge of bettors hoping to emulate the winner.
Tobacconist Mimmo Lo Bianco said "there's been no peep from
the winner, no phonecalls or written messages.
"We hope, however, that he'll remember us and the huge
fortune we brought him".
