The government's earthquake
reconstruction decree will be "extended" to cover the areas
struck by Wednesday night's two quakes, Marche Governor Luca
Ceriscioli said after meeting Premier Matteo Renzi in the quake
zone Thursday. The decree was first issued after an August 24
quake that killed 298 people and flattened villages. The last
two quakes caused extensive fresh damage. "The tape has been
wound back two months and we're again faced with an emergency,
with the need to house people tonight," he said. "Winter is
coming and so we'll avoid tents in favour of temporary
accommodation like hotels and other facilities, and then restart
the machine that, with prefabricated wooden homes, will allow
people to stay in the area".
