Italian police on Friday seized
assets worth some 12 million euros from Pierino Zanga, a Milan
businessman at the centre of a Lombardy graft probe involving
the Calabrian 'Ndrangheta mafia.
A restaurant was among the assets seized.
Fourteen people were arrested in the probe on October 3
including the head of a company controlled by the Ferrovie Nord
rail group in connection with suspected kickbacks on public
works sub-contracts in Lombardy.
Among the contracts involved was that for a rail link
between Terminals 1 and 2 at Milan's Malpensa international
airport.
Those arrested are suspected of conspiracy to engage in
corruption.
