Closing temporary tent camps
housing survivors of the devastating August 24 earthquake that
hit central Italy is a top priority, following the securing of
town centres, said Vasco Errani, recently appointed as
commissioner for reconstruction.
Errani said alternative solutions would be employed while
residents await the installation of temporary housing, such as a
government "autonomous accommodation" program providing monthly
funds to those forced from their homes by the earthquake.
"This is to offer people comfortable and adequate shelter
to face the cold weather that will soon be upon us," he said.
