Police on Monday arrested a man
shortly after he murdered his wife in a converted farmhouse in
the Piedmont village of Caramagna Piemonte.
The victim, aged 71, was found lying in a pool of blood
after a neighbor alerted Carabinieri police.
The couple's son reportedly witnessed the crime and has been
hospitalized in a state of shock.
The alleged perpetrator, 68, was tracked down in the village
square shortly after.
He was taken to jail where he refused to confess but did
make what police called "partial admissions".
Police said the woman died of five stab wounds.
