Lower House Speaker
Laura Boldrini arrived on Thursday in the mountain village of
Arquata del Tronto in the earthquake-stricken central Marche
region, and said the number of people buried under the rubble
there is still unknown and will be "very difficult" to
determine.
"We don't know how many non-residents were here in the
area," Boldrini said.
"Those who were here and have left must tell the mayor or
the local authorities, because aid and rescue workers are sent
where people were known to have been staying," she said.
The village, which straddles the borders of Marche, Umbria
and Abruzzo, has a population of 1,178, according to Wikipedia.
