An initiative was launched on
Wednesday after a severe earthquake hit central Italy to raise
funds for those affected by it through restaurants serving
pasta.
From Thursday until Sunday, Amatrice was to have celebrated
the 50th anniversary of an annual festival devoted to spaghetti
all'amatriciana.
Paolo Campana, a graphic designer and food blogger, came up
with an idea for restaurants to give one euro per plate of
amatriciana ordered, while customers will give one euro each as
well.
Many restaurants have expressed their willingness to take
part.
Sugo or salsa all'amatriciana or alla matriciana is a
traditional Italian pasta sauce based on guanciale, pecorino
cheese and tomato.
