Carabinieri police on Tuesday arrested the brother and the nephew of a shopkeeper who was murdered Sunday night.
Antonio Scarfone, 49, was shot dead in the Calabria town of Rosarno in the courtyard of his house, where he lived with his wife and his seriously ill mother.
The suspects were named as brother Angelo Scarfone, 52, and nephew Luigi Timpani, 28.
The motive had to with a long-running fight between the brothers over their mother's house, health, and pension, investigators said.
On the day of the murder, Angelo Scarfone and other family members had called police to the house to report Antonio Scarfone for neglecting their mother.
When he returned home that evening after a day out visiting his wife's relatives, a violent argument broke out between the brothers and the fatal shots were fired.
Both the victim and the suspects were known to police.
