Police on Monday arrested a
Nigerian man after he stripped himself naked aboard a coach
between the Puglia city of Bari and the seaside town of
Giovinazzo.
Once naked, the 24-year-old made sexual advances to one of
the other four passengers, albeit without approaching her. He
also pushed the driver around and bit a passenger's hand.
The driver stopped the coach and called the cops while the
young man proceeded to break the bus windows with a rock he
picked up from the ground.
The Nigerian has been living in Italy for the past seven
years and is waiting for his residency permit, which expired in
June, to be renewed.
Once arrested, he told Carabinieri police he is a member of
the Jehovah's Witnesses - a Christian sect that believes
Armageddon is imminent and secular society is dominated by the
devil - and that he doesn't know why he acted as he did.
