A fruit-and-vegetable
market, two banks and several shops were evacuated in the city
of Ventimiglia, on the border with France, on Monday following
an anonymous call reporting a bomb in the market.
Police, Carabinieri and municipal police evacuated the
area, traffic was sealed off and bomb disposal experts are on
the scene.
"Plain-clothese officers came by to tell us to leave out
businesses due to a bomb alert," said Bruno Ramon, the owner of
a shop inside the market. "We were all out within minutes".
