The ex partner of a 55-year-old
woman who was found dead in a non-functioning fridge in a Modena
cellar has confessed to the killing, sources said Tuesday.
The suspect, 50-year-old Armando Canò, strangled Betta
Fella after the latest in a long series of rows.
The man, who has a criminal record, was reported in the
past for mistreating the woman.
The police found the man at the home of an acquaintance at
2am on Tuesday.
He is now in prison and faces charges of homicide and
hiding a body.
A recent spate of femicides, mostly by spurned partners,
has raised alarm in Italy and calls for the authorities to take
action.
