State police on Monday
detained two men suspected of skippering a migrant vessel that
capsized in the Strait of Sicily yesterday, causing the deaths
of at least 45 people including a baby and two toddlers.
Italy's Navy ship Vega on Sunday rescued 629 people from
that incident, bringing them to Italy along with the bodies of
three children aged two months to two years, 36 women, and six
men.
The survivors include 419 men, 138 women and 72 minors from
Eritrea, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Morocco, Pakistan, Senegal,
