Potenza prosecutors will question
Transport Minister Graziano Delrio as an informed witness in an
oil corruption probe Tuesday in Rome, ANSA has learned Monday.
Prosecutors will hear Reform Minister Maria Elena Boschi on
April 4 and Cabinet Secretary Claudio De Vincenti on May 10.
Delrio will answer questions about alleged pressure made on
him by Confindustria industrialists' association deputy chairman
Ivan Lo Bello, who is under investigation.
Investigators believe Lo Bello pressured Delrio to keep
lawyer Alberto Cozzo on as special commissioner for the Augusta
port authority.
The Augusta port was the location of what investigators are
calling "a little business quarter" of corrupt officials and
businessmen including former industry minister Federica Guidi's
boyfriend, Gianluca Gemelli.
Cozzo stayed on in the position but Delrio has denied both
in parliament and in public that he was pressured into making
that decision.
However on May 16, Delrio replaced Cozzo with local port
authority chief Antonio Donato.
