A Bari doctor has been indicted for
forgery and attempted abuse of office, prosecution sources said
Friday.
Dr. Antonietta Cicco is charged with falsifying an elderly
patient's medical chart and trying to force two nurses to
posthumously write down that an anticoagulant had been given
when it had not.
"She did so to avoid sanctions for acts of omission,"
prosecutors said.
The alleged incident took place April 29, 2014, when Cicco
was on duty at the Mater Dei Clinic internal medicine
department.
The doctor, who is now retired, was reported by one of the
two nurses. She goes on trial beginning July 12.
