Firefighters early on
Friday recovered the bodies of two quarry workers who went
missing yesterday after a wall of rock at a marble quarry in the
Apuan Alps collapsed.
Rescue operations at the Antonioli quarry lasted through
the night.
On Thursday, a third quarryman who was reportedly left
hanging by a rope in the quarry in Tuscany's Colonnata basin was
rescued and taken to hospital. A fourth worker was taken to the
quarry's own first aid centre after feeling ill due to shock.
