Italy was bracing for more
wintry weather on Monday with meteorologists forecasting rain,
snow and strong winds for much of the week.
The first low-pressure front was due to hit northern Italy
on Tuesday afternoon, before moving across the rest of Italy
over the following 24 hours.
Civil protection authorities in Tuscany and Liguria have
issued an orange alert for hydrogeological risk starting 3 pm
Tuesday and ending 8 am Wednesday.
Meteorologists also forecast the arrival of two more
low-pressure fronts later in the week, which would affect
regions along the Tyrrhenian coast in particular.
