Investigators on Wednesday
seized assets worth over 100 million euros from the heirs of
late Palermo construction businessman Francesco Pecora, who died
in May 2011 and is considered to have been a high-ranking Cosa
Nostra figure by the authorities.
The National Anti-Mafia Investigative Directorate (DIA)
said that Pecora was high up in the ranks of the Mob in palermo
and was a co-defendant in various trials with Cosa Nostra
heavyweights including Pippo Calò, Antonino Rotolo, Tommaso
Spadaro and Giuseppe Ficarra.
Pecora's daughter Caterina is the wife of Giovanni Motisi,
who is on Italy's list of 30 most-wanted fugitives.
