A 25-year-old man who lives in
Ponsacco near Pisa but has Moroccan roots is to remain in prison
custody pending trial for 'instigating jihad' through Facebook,
the Supreme Court of Cassation ruled Tuesday.
The court rejected an appeal against the pre-trial custody
from lawyers acting for Jalal El Hanaoui, who has lived in Italy
since he was a child.
El Hanaoui, who was arrested in July, has rejected the
charges against him and during recent questioning he has
reportedly explicitly distanced himself from ISIS and radical
Islam.
His trial is set to begin in February.
