Italy braced for a wave of
wintry weather Wednesday as storms and high winds headed to its
central and southern regions.
The Civil Protection Department issued a flood and
landslide alert due to heavy precipitation expected in
Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise and parts of Puglia early
on Thursday.
Forecasters said snow will likely fall above altitudes of
800 meters and as low as 600 meters in Abruzzo, eastern
Campania, and Molise.
Gale-force winds will blow in Abruzzo, Basilicata,
Calabria, Campania, Emilia Romagna, Lazio, Marche, Molise,
Puglia, Sicily and Umbria.
