Mayor of Naples Luigi de
Magistris said Wednesday he will never ban filming on location
of movies or screenplays about the city's Camorra crime gangs
such as the second series of the television series Gomorra,
based on the expose' about the Neapolitan mob by journalist
Roberto Saviano.
"I hate censorship and I will never say no to filming of a
movie or a serial," he said, adding that he disassociates
himself from "other colleagues who deny filming" of the series.
"Naples is no longer the Gomorra described years ago by
Saviano," the mayor claimed and the port city needs "a truth
operation to describe the 1000 colours of the city".
"They can film Gomorra in Naples and if anyone asks me if
that is Naples I reply no, without being a denier because there
are gangs of Camorristi who control areas, but to say that today
Naples is Gomorra is a falsehood operation. There is still black
and gray but also a lot of light".
