Police arrested at least four
people and seized assets worth 10 millions euros Thursday as
part of a major operation against the Camorra, the mafia based
in the Campania region.
Those arrested include members of the powerful Casalesi
clan who specialise in the construction industry and are based
in the province of Caserta.
Some of the arrests occurred in the province of Frosinone
in southern Lazio.
As well, Italian financial police seized assets in both
Lazio and Campania including a boat, 11 buildings, 80 vehicles,
five plots of land, 14 companies, and 80 bank accounts.
The suspects were laundering their ill-gotten gains in the
real estate, fashion, and car sales sectors, investigators said.
