A curt "Thanks" from a brother was
the only response to US President Obama's apology for the death
of Italian aid worker Giovanni Lo Porter killed by US forces in
an anti-Al Quaeda drone raid in January, media reported.
"Obama has apologized? Thanks", said one of Lo Porto's
brothers when reporters asked to comment on the US President's
apology to victims' families.
According to sources in the Italian Government, Prime
Minister Matteo Renzi reached out to Lo Porto's mother in a
telephone call coordinated by the Foreign Ministry crisis team.
"He was my age," Renzi reportedly said to Lo Porto's
mother.
