Investigators said Tuesday
they were "95%" confident of the identity of a woman whose body
was found in a bag tossed into a ditch near Florence.
They believe the body is that of Irene Focardi, 43, who
disappeared from the Florence neighborhood of Piagge on February
3.
However, a prosecutor said that there "is still no
scientific proof" to confirm the identity but added that
clothing on the corpse as well as some physical features match
the missing women.
The bag was found several days earlier by a pedestrian, who
saw an arm sticking out of the bag.
