A Camorra mafia clan used a
central Naples hospital to stash arms and drugs, according to a
carabinieri police investigation that led to 54 arrests Tuesday.
The Ferraiuolo-Stolder clan also used Ascalesi Hospital as
a hideout to avoid the law and ambushes from other mobsters,
police said.
Two hospital security guards were among those arrested.
Investigators say the guards warned the clan to move
Giovanni Saggese, brother-in-law to clan boss Maurizio
Ferraiuolo, to another hospital because armed members of the Del
Prete-Mazzarella clan were on the premises.
Saggese was murdered May 21, 2012, while the city was
celebrating Napoli's Italian Cup victory.
