A 22-year-old Romanian man
indicted for fatally running over a little girl while under the
influence has evaded house arrest, sources said Friday.
Law enforcement is seeking Daniel Domnar, who allegedly
killed Stella Manzi on December 31, 2013 in the Lazio town of
Aprilia by running her over in a stolen car.
He was driving without a license and under the influence of
drugs and alcohol, police said.
Domnar had been held in pretrial custody but was released
to house arrest on July 28 for good behavior, despite protests
from the victim's family.
He failed to show up for his first trial hearing earlier
this week, which is when authorities realized he had escaped.
He reportedly fled on November 11.
